Top 10 "Unadvertised" Activities

(Beyond the Outlets, Great Escape, Minne Ha Ha, etc.)

1.    Prospect Mountain – Take a drive or hike thru Prospect Mountain which is only about ½ mile south of the Village of Lake George.  Beautiful views of the area can be seen from over 2,000 feet high.  (Small entrance fee per car.)

2.    Bolton’s Landing – About 15 minutes north of Lake George is the quiet town of Bolton’s Landing.  There is a cute little village of shopping and restaurants with a small town feel.  If you have young kids, stop by Veteran’s Memorial Park for a small but less crowded beach, and a playground.   (Fishing is permitted as well as a dock for visiting from the Lake)

3.    Boat Renting – We’ve tried many boat rental places, and we think the best one is Chic’s Marina in Bolton’s Landing.  It’s outside of the village but it’s a little less expensive and they have a ton of boats available, without the wait.  (Especially on a Holiday Weekend...they always have boats.)

4.    Best Mini Golf – be sure to hit the Pirates’s Cove outside of the village.  They have 2 - 18 hole courses that are very entertaining.  It’s about ¼ m south of Great Escape.  (Was named one of the top 25 Mini Golf courses in the U.S. in 2011)

5.  Be sure to catch a drive-in movie at Glens Fall’s Drive-in during the summer months.  They offer 2 movies for one entrance fee.  Great Old Time Feel.

6.   Our Favorite Breakfast – There are two places that we consider a must for breakfast.  Molly’s Mason Jar, just minutes from the house in Hadley.  Also, if you are up for the drive, about 10 minutes past the village is The Lone Bull.  You’ll never have a bigger or better breakfast.

7.  Tubing - Either Winter or Summer - You must hit Tubby Tubes in Lake Luzerne for year around Tubing.  Either go down the Hudson or use there man made Slide Park for some great summer fun.

8.   Our Favorite Dinner -  The Barnsider for some great Barbeque or Adirondack Brew Pub – especially if you like trying various brews.  Both are kid friendly and have great food.

9.    Adirondack Winery – Stop in to do some wine tasting and browse their wonderful selection.

10.     Top of the World Golf Course – If doing some golfing, be sure to go to this course with some amazing views of Lake George.

(Don't forget to spend some good quality time at the house too.  You've rented a house, use it to relax, do a puzzle, play a boardgame and spend some quality time with the people that you are away with.)
